Imagine it. Build it. Explore a Brand-New World with New Tech Design Summer Camps Offered at UNB.

Minecraft and Jr. Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) are two of the new Tech Design camps that will be available this summer through Design Works Camps offered at the University of New Brunswick (UNB).

"We know these camps will be in high demand considering the popularity of gaming, especially games like Minecraft," says Marie Maltais, director of the UNB Art Centre, where the camps are held.

"Kids will love creating and designing their own games, all while learning how to code and problem-solve."

Considered the best camps in the city, Design Works prides itself in offering exciting, fun, educational and safe summer camps for kids and teens.

"The strength and popularity of the Design Works Camps can be attributed to our talented and passionate staff, who are creative professionals in their own right," explains Maltais.

Participants in the camps get exposed to professionals in their respective fields. Professional photographer, Gary Weekes, teaches the children's Stop Motion and Movie camps. Actress, Liz Goodyear, instructs the Steal the Stage theatre camps.

Jane Kidney-Hermelin believes Design Works camps are the best in the city.

"Our daughter has gone to all sorts of camps, but comes home from yours [Design Works] so happy and fulfilled. The instructors make it very evident that they enjoy children and take a genuine interest, says Kidney-Hermelin."

Over 50 camps are being offered at the UNB Art Centre. Five main themes include the new tech design camps, cooking, photography, art, and theatre.

"Our top seller is the ever-popular Jr Iron Chef camp, especially Dessert camps," says Maltais.

Parents are encouraged to register their children early to avoid disappointment.

In addition to themed art camps like Little Picasso and Fabulous Fashionista, there’s the popular Steal-the-Stage theatre camps, as well as photography and the DIY Handy Kid camps.

DIY Handy Kid is a unique camp, modeled on the successful adult Leisure Learning DIY Handy Person courses. This bust out of the art-only box introduces children aged 10-14 to basic tools and kid-friendly projects.
