A passionate athlete is the best way to describe the newest member of the Men’s Volleyball team. Ethan Alward is from Saint John, New Brunswick, where he graduated from Saint John High School. While in high school, Ethan was a member of the baseball team, the basketball team, and of course, the volleyball team. Not only was he an active member of his high school’s sports teams, but he was also a member of the U18 Provincial baseball team, the U18 Provincial Volleyball team, the Port City Pirates baseball team and the Wolfpack volleyball team. You could definitely say that Ethan is an all-around athlete.

Ethan has racked up many different awards over his athletic career. He has received the Most Valuable Hound award, the Rookie of the Year award for both volleyball and basketball, and he has received MVP for volleyball, basketball, and baseball. In his senior year of high school, Ethan was named captain for both the volleyball team and the basketball team. He certainly had a very busy schedule, but he still found time to be the Grad Class Vice-President and to graduate high school with High Honours.

“I am passionate about volleyball because I am in love with every aspect of the game” says Ethan. He is very grateful for volleyball as he has met some fantastic people and has had amazing coaches who have motivated him to work hard. Ethan loves that he is able to have that overwhelming feeling of joy each time he steps out on the court. His goals for the athletic season are to win, to continue his fitness journey, and to be a good teammate.

Ethan is enrolled in the Engineering program at UNB Saint John because he felt very comfortable with the campus. He is thrilled that he will get to attend a university close to home allowing him to continue playing the sport he loves, while still making time for his academics. Ethan has learned the importance of positivity from his father and he is excited to take on this next chapter in his life.

Welcome to the Seawolves family Ethan!
