Tessa Holmes has officially signed with the UNB Saint John Seawolves basketball program for the 2019-2020 Varsity season.

Hailing from Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Tessa will be graduating from Kennebecasis Valley High in June. Tessa’s passion for basketball, hard work and goal setting has certainly attributed to all of her athletic accomplishments. These include an undefeated season in 2015, MVP for Junior Varsity, first place in the final 12 in 2017, player of the game awards and MVP for the Black and Yellow tournament in Fredericton. Tessa is passionate about basketball because it is a part of her and it is important to her and has made her the driven person she is today.

“Basketball means hard work, and hard work will bring you success.”

Tessa will add encouragement and positivity to the team, she believes these elements that create a strong bond and great culture among team mates. Her goal is to prove her loyalty to her team mates and that she has their back in whatever challenges they may face. Tessa wants to improve her current skills and abilities and she is eager to step on the court once season is in full swing.

To Tessa, her sisters are more than just family. They are a solid support system, her biggest role models and have supported her every step of the way.

“They teach me how to believe in myself, they support me no matter what and I’m thankful for that.”

In the fall, Tessa will begin a new academic journey here at UNB Saint John in the Arts program. She chose UNB Saint John because it is close to home and family. She enjoys the concept of a small campus feel and small community.

Kevin Munroe, Head coach of Women’s Basketball has watched Tessa play for a number of years with KVHS basketball which always has a contending program, thus he has seen her play at the highest end of high school competitions in New Brunswick. Coach is looking to develop her post play both as a scorer and a passer in addition to finishing off strong rebounds and seeing opportunities for successful plays.

“She is a hard worker, great defender and plays with an edge. She is a great athlete who will fit our program like a glove.”

Coach Munroe believes that Tessa will bring grit, rebounding, intensity and a hard working attitude to the team. He looks forward to seeing Tessa bring her best to every practice and game and to watching her develop and mature as an athlete. Tessa has competed against very strong players and he believes she will adjust quickly and be a force to be reckoned with in the ACAA.

Welcome to the Seawolves Family Tessa!
