In the sixth post in our O365 series, we’re taking a closer look at Skype for Business.

What is Skype for Business?

Skype for Business (previously known as Microsoft Lync) is a communication tool you can use for:

  • Instant messaging
  • Voice and video calling for online meetings
  • Screen sharing
  • Presence – See when your colleagues and classmates are available, busy, or away
  • File sharing and document collaboration

Skype for Business also gives you the option to collaborate with people outside of UNB, and is available for all devices (computer, smartphone, tablet).

How do I access Skype for Business?

There are three ways:

  • Online through the Outlook Web App (the “Email” link in your myUNB portal)
  • Via a desktop client on your computer or laptop (download required)
  • Through a mobile app for your Apple, Android or Windows phone (download required)
