UNB to celebrate students and faculty at 2025 Fall Convocation

The University of New Brunswick will honour students and distinguished faculty during the 2025 Fall Convocation ceremonies from Oct. 23-24.
UNB will celebrate the achievements of 620 graduates from across Canada and around the world. This includes 317 students receiving their bachelor’s degrees, 280 earning master’s degrees and 23 achieving the highest level of academic achievement, the PhD.
Student Awards
The Governor General's Gold Medal
- Awarded to the student who achieves the highest academic standing at the graduate level. This year the medal will be awarded to Aisa Custodio, who will receive a PhD in mechanical engineering.
The Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick Silver Medal
- Awarded to a full-time or part-time student who is the most outstanding student based primarily on the last half of their program. This year the medal will be awarded to Jacqueline Sharpe, who will receive a bachelor of education degree with distinction.
Honorary Degree Recipients
Honorary degrees are granted to individuals who exemplify the values cherished by our academic community. This year, honorary degrees will be awarded to the following:
- Cherill Edwina Shea, Doctorate of Laws
- Dr. John (Jack) Little, Doctorate of Letter
Faculty Awards
Dr. Allan P. Stuart Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching
This prestigious award recognizes teaching excellence at UNB:
- Jan Waldschutz, communications and writing instructor, Saint John campus.
- Dr. Mark Sherrard, associate teaching professor in the faculty of science, Fredericton campus.
UNB Award for Excellence in Research
- Dr. Lucia O’Sullivan, professor and chair in the department of psychology, Fredericton campus.
