Dear students, faculty and staff:

I am deeply saddened by events in the Middle East this past week and I acknowledge the impact this has had on members of the UNB community. My thoughts are with everyone affected, including members of our UNB community with loved ones in the region. I want our students, faculty and staff who are impacted by these events to know that we are here to support them. I know there is additional concern about potential international unrest today, Oct. 13. I encourage all members of our community to be respectful of one another and know that the university strongly condemns all acts of violence, hate or discrimination of any kind. We have security measures in place today on our campuses to ensure the safety of our UNB community.

I offer my sincere sympathy to all those directly impacted by these terrible events. Please see below for counselling support links. Students may also access faith group services, and more support by messaging UNB’s Student Affairs and Services team at sas@unb.ca.

Kind regards,

Paul J. Mazerolle
