The University of New Brunswick (UNB), their government partners and seven other post-secondary institutions in the province have partnered on a shared website portal to boost the population of post-secondary students provincewide and support them on their educational journey.

The Study NB platform allows prospective students to navigate various programs and institutions. The site also includes information on securing student financial assistance and general information on making a home in the province.

Petra Hauf, vice-president Saint John at UNB, said this initiative has become a reality after much collaboration and hard work.

She reflected on her experience as a newcomer and an educator. She emphasized that diversity isn't merely a checkbox but an ongoing dedication to fostering an inclusive environment.

“I take pride in being a first-generation Canadian and a first-generation university graduate,” said Hauf. “This journey has given me a profound belief in the transformative power of education – its ability to change lives, shift perspectives and open minds.”

She said that as a researcher, an academic scholar and an administrator, she has the chance to be part of and lead change. She also said every step they take impacts generations to come.

“These are our next generation of leaders, bringing fresh ideas, fresh visions and new energy to our province,” said Hauf.

Hauf said that while the province boasts a rich tapestry of educational opportunities, this initiative isn’t just about showcasing New Brunswick's strengths in education. It's about empowering and supporting students and learners within the province and beyond.

“It is about creating an environment where individuals can thrive academically, economically, and personally", she said. “It is about fostering communities where everyone can live, learn and prosper.”
