Dr. Joanna Everitt of UNB’s Saint John campus has been elected as president of the Canadian Political Science Association, an organization representing political science faculty and students across the country. She is the first president from an Atlantic Canadian university in more than 20 years.
Dr. Everitt is a professor of political science and the director of the UNB Urban and Community Studies Institute. She is a former dean of the UNB Saint John faculty of arts. She specializes in Canadian politics, gender and politics, and political behaviour and has published several books and almost 50 articles and book chapters on these topics.
She took over as president of the association at its annual general meeting on June 10 after serving as its vice president. She will serve for a one-year term.
UNB Saint John is the smallest university campus to be home to a CPSA president.
