The University of New Brunswick has once again been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, marking the fourth time in five years the institution has received the accolade.
The Globe and Mail announced Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2017 today. UNB was the only Atlantic Canadian university to make the list and one of four Canadian universities recognized.
Here are some of the reasons why UNB was selected as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2017:
- The university offers full tuition subsidies for courses related and not directly related to their current position;
- UNB offers exceptional family-friendly benefits including maternity and parental leave top-up payments for employees who are new mothers, fathers or adoptive parents and a number of flexible work arrangements, such as telecommuting and reduced summer hours;
- Employees working at UNB’s main campus can take advantage of a variety of onsite amenities, including a cafeteria (with healthy and special diet menus), a quiet room for meditation and reflection, and subsidized membership to UNB’s state-of-the-art fitness facility, which features an indoor swimming pool, soccer and winter golf dome, baseball diamonds, an ice rink and various instructor-led classes, such as spinning, Zumba and yoga.
More than 7,500 organizations of all sizes were invited to apply for recognition as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. UNB has been chosen four times in the past five years, despite a high turnover rate for organizations who receive the accolade.
