This summer Professor Randall Martin, one of the country's leading Shakespeare scholars, was in Bitola, Macedonia to participate in the Bitola Shakespeare Festival. The festival expands on the success of last year’s six-week Globe to Globe Festival in London, England which invited theatre companies from around the world to perform all of Shakespeare's 37 plays in their home languages. This year's week-long Bitola Shakespeare Festival included theatre companies from Russia, China, Serbia, Finland, the US, and Macedonia.

Prof. Martin's online reviews of the productions have just been published in Cambridge University Press's Shakespeare Beyond English: A Global Experiment (2013).

You can see Professor Martin's reviews and video clips of the productions in Bitola at Blogging Shakespeare.

Professor Martin teaches in the department of English at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton.
