The 31st Annual New Brunswick Mathematics Competition for Grade 7, 8 and 9 will take place on Friday, May 10, 2013.

Nearly 1,200 students from across the province will travel to both the Fredericton and Saint John campuses of the University of New Brunswick and the Moncton, Edmundston and Shippigan campuses of l’Université de Moncton to compete in this year’s competition.

The competitions are written in the late morning and are followed by tours and demonstrations at various university facilities. The top student in each grade for each school district will be announced in the afternoon. A pewter medal, designed exclusively for this competition, will be presented to the top three students in each grade for the Province.

The annual math competition is organized jointly by UNB’s Department of Mathematics & Statistics, and the U de M Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering. The event is sponsored by New Brunswick’s Department of Education andEarly Childhood Development and is further supported by CIBC/Wood Gundy, Morneau Shepell, the Canadian Mathematical Society and the Atlantic Association forResearch in Mathematical Sciences.
