On Thursday, Nov. 22, Jeffrey Landine, assistant professor with UNB's faculty of education, will present Finding satisfaction at work; finding satisfaction from work at 7 p.m. at Marshall d’Avray Hall, 10 MacKay Dr., in Room 356, at UNB Fredericton.

A recent national survey done by the Canadian Education and Research Institute for Counselling (CERIC) indicated that Canadians are generally happy with their jobs. This might come as a surprise to some given the frequency of movement from job to job and dissatisfaction we often see on an anecdotal basis. Using insights from this study as well as data from surveys done by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Statistics Canada, along with recent research in the area of job satisfaction, this presentation will explore why Canadians might be claiming that they are generally happy in their work.

Dr. Landine will also consider some sources of stress on the job that can reduce our experience of satisfaction at work and the role job satisfaction plays in our overall happiness and well-being.

Dr. Landine contributes to the development of Canadian counsellors and conducts research into all kinds of variables that impact career development. He also has a private practice where he spends some of his time helping people with career-related difficulties.
