Through a conference scheduled in November, the University of New Brunswick hopes to shed an unbiased eye on the long-held public debate over public-private partnerships (P3s).

In cooperation with Partnerships New Brunswick and The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships, UNB's Transportation Group with the department of civil engineering has invited experts of all specialties to descend on Fredericton to discuss this hybrid method of financing and maintaining public infrastructure projects.

Understanding and Applying the Public Private Partnership Model in Atlantic Canada will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the Wu Conference Centre, UNB Fredericton.

The conference will engage practitioners and experts in all fields who have experience in the implementation of P3s and can provide insight into the best practices and lessons learned.  The intent is to further the understanding of P3s and improve their future application in all contexts, including transportation facilities, hospitals, schools, and municipal infrastructure.

Among the speakers will be Mr. John McBride, CEO of Public Private Partnerships Canada and Mark Romoff, CEO of Canadian Council for Public Private Partnerships.
