The University of New Brunswick’s Mi’kmaq Maliseet Institute will host an inaugural lecture called "You took our talk"; a panel discussion from New Brunswick Residential School survivors. It will take place Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m., in Room 356 of Marshall d'Avray Hall, 10 MacKay Drive, UNB Fredericton.

The lecture is part of "Welcome to Our Talking Circle", a new Wolastoqiyik/Mi’kmaq Speaker Series. "Welcome to Our Talking Circle" brings Wolastoqi and Mi’kmaq First Nations speakers, stories and perspectives to UNB.

The presenters are Iris, Vaughan and Wayne Nicholas. All three speakers are currently members of a support group identified as "Indian Residential School Survivors".  They have appeared as witnesses for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Hearings held in Fredericton and Halifax.

The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception will follow with traditional foods.
