604 students receive degrees at UNB s fall graduation ceremonies

The University of New Brunswick celebrated the accomplishments of 604 graduates from across Canada and around the globe at its fall graduation ceremonies in Fredericton and Saint John, Oct. 20 and 21. This year’s ceremonies saw 352 students receive bachelor’s degrees, 230 earn master’s degrees and 22 achieve the highest level of academic achievement, the PhD. Andreas Kreienbuehl of Ettiswil, Switzerland, who graduated with a PhD in mathematics, was awarded the Governor General’s Gold Medal for outstanding achievement in graduate studies.  Jenna Christine Granger of Saint John, N.B., received the Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick’s Silver Medal in Education as the top student graduating from the faculty of education in Fredericton. Dr. Allan P. Stuart Memorial Awards for Excellence in Teaching were presented to business professor Emin Civi and science, applied science and engineering professor Christopher Gray. Steven Turner was named professor emeritus in history. Honorary degrees were awarded to Tim Brodhead, social innovator and volunteer, and Harry (Hank) Stackhouse, businessman and hotelier.
