UNB Saint John student receives Leader to Watch award at gala dinner

SAINT JOHN - Not many individuals can claim to know of their career calling at the age of three. Tiger Woods maybe, or Shirley Temple. Locally, you can add Taryn O'Neill to that short list. "When I was three or four years old my mom had enrolled in the science program at UNB Saint John and found it easier to take me to class instead of hiring a babysitter," she said. "In my first year at UNB I had a lot of flashback memories of the different rooms around campus." She'll likely have a few more flashbacks tonight when she is presented with the Leader to Watch Award at the Red Triangle Award Dinner and Gala at the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre beginning with a reception at 6 p.m. The 23-year-old will receive the award presented annually to an individual 35 or younger who is deemed to be a role model for other young adults.
