An evening of poetry and prose with the Lorenzo Reading Series

UNB Saint John will present two award-winning authors, Richard Cumyn and John Steffler, on Monday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. in the Ganong Hall Lecture Theatre. Richard Cumyn will read from his new collection of eloquent short stories, The Young and Their Country. Cumyn is the author of four earlier collections of short fiction and a novella, The View from Tamischeira. A former fiction editor at The Antigonish Review, he is widely published. His work appears regularly in The New Quarterly, The Fiddlehead, Prairie Fire, The Literary Review of Canada, and the Journey Prize Anthology. Cumyn won a Linda Joy Media Arts Prize for his adaptation of a novel to screenplay, and he has been shortlisted twice for a ReLit Award. John Steffler, former Parliamentary Poet Laureate (2006-08), will read from, Lookout. Steffler is the author of the award-winning novel, The Afterlife of George Cartwright and seven books of poetry, including That Night We Were Ravenous, winner of an Atlantic Poetry Prize, and Helix: New and Selected Poems, winner of a Newfoundland and Labrador Poetry Prize. The reading is hosted by the Lorenzo Reading Series and the UNB Saint John Bookstore, and supported by The Canada Council for the Arts. Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.
