The Faculty of Computer Science at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton will host its annual lecture on Wednesday, March 10, at 7 p.m. in the Dineen Auditorium at Head Hall, 15 Dineen Drive.
This year’s lecturer will be Colin Ware, director of data visualization research lab at the Centre for Coastal and Ocean Mapping at the University of New Hampshire.
The lecture is entitled The Acrobatic Maneuvers of Feeding Humback Whales. A psychologist and computer scientist, Dr. Ware will discuss what he has found over the past seven years of developing data visualization tools to help scientists understand what humpback whales do when they feed underwater.
Dr. Ware was a professor at UNB from 1985 until 1999. His most recent book is called Visual Thinking for Design.
The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Brad Nickerson at 451-6970, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
