UNB Saint John Athletics, Recreation and Wellness is excited to announce that it will be offering our students, faculty and staff many unique opportunities to engage in activities during this COVID-19 altered setting on campus.

Get outdoors!

Everyone can enjoy “Walking with Dave” from 12:15 -1 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays (rain days Monday and Friday).  Show up and join in!

Natasha Kelly ( is offering hiking for those who prefer something a little more taxing and adventurous than walking. If you have never tried hiking, now is the perfect time. Details on this will be posted on the Fitness and Recreation website.

Online sessions

Online sessions will be available this semester. Sign up for Virtual Yoga, Mindful Moments, Stress Management, Healthy Eating and much more.

Health partnerships

We are excited to be working with several internal and community partners to offer more health programs such as the “Fall in Love with Running” (partnership with the Running Room), “Simply for Life” nutritional instruction and more.

Fitness and Recreation Survey

The Fitness and Recreation Survey has been completed by more than 130 people! The deadline has been extended so, if you have not completed it yet, please do so. Your feedback will help us serve you better this fall and winter.

Varsity competition has been cancelled until January, but teams will still be allowed to train. There will not be tryouts in the tradition sense but if you played high school or provincial club-level sports and want to play at the university level you can register with us for a tryout.

Fitness Room

The fitness room is open and nine cardio machines are available at the top of each hour (11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.) by booking only through Sharon Stewart at

There is a cleaning time allotted between each session. Free weights and machine weights are not available at the present time.

Recreation activities

Recreation activities will proceed only as operational plans get approved. Some possible offerings may include soccer, futsal, outdoor badminton and flag football. All approved plans will follow the sport-specific provincial sport organization guidelines. Stephanie Guimond at is your contact for recreation activities.
