UNB Residence Life Leadership Opportunity: Residence Fellow

UNB Residence Life, on the Fredericton campus, is searching for its 2020-2021 Residence Fellow.

Residence Life, a division within Student Services, contributes to the creation of a campus environment that supports student success and student engagement in both academic pursuits and co-curricular life. As the Residence Fellow, the incumbent will be responsible for focusing on the academic needs of students in residence through collaboration with academic units and the various academic supports on campus, and in supporting Educational Proctors and helping develop campus-wide academic programming.


  • Assist in the development of training sessions specifically for Educational Proctors.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with Educational Proctors, both as a group and one-on-one.
  • Monitor performance of Educational Proctors, offering regular coaching and feedback.
  • Plan and facilitate one large scale academic programs per semester for residence students.
  • Ongoing assessment and development of the Community Development Model, our residence programming curriculum.
  • Continued collaboration with Residence Life Coordinators through ongoing meetings and regular communication.
  • Attend Weekly Residence Team Meetings (Monday afternoons).
  • Encourage faculty involvement in residence programming.


  • Undergraduate degree in a related field, although preference will be given to those with Graduate or Post-Graduate degrees.
  • Experience working in a leadership capacity within a residence community preferred, including knowledge of need-based programming.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of student support trends, best practices, and standards.
  • Must be current Faculty member, although Staff or Graduate Students will also be considered with appropriate experience
  • Experience in the creation and delivery of training programs for student staff members

Competition Closing Date: Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 4 p.m.

Compensation: Unfurnished, One-Bedroom Apartment and dining plan* (both taxable benefits)

Employment Start Date: July 2020 – April 30, 2021 (10 month contract**)

Appointment Type:    Approximately 10 hours per week (office space not provided)  

*Dining plan valid during the academic year only

**Incumbent will be required to re-apply for the following year; if not returning will have an additional rent-free month in residence (May 2021).
