Nicole Caissie grew up in the small rural New Brunswick town of Chipman. After graduating from high school with her 23 fellow classmates, she came to UNB’s engineering faculty with no clue about what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. This changed soon after she discovered GGE and immediately fell in love with the program. She knew it would allow her to work anywhere in the world and whether on land, in the air, or on water.

While taking her undergraduate degree at UNB, she had the opportunity to work in the mountains of northern British Columbia, the million-dollar cottage country of Muskoka, Ontario, and even spend four months in Bangkok on an international exchange program. All this before even getting her degree!

After spending two summers doing terrestrial surveying, Nicole decided to switch her focus to hydrography. She currently works at QPS Canada as technical support for multiple hydrographic mapping software packages, all while progressing towards her P.Eng. certification. She connects with people across the world daily at her work and travels the globe on work opportunities when they arise. She truly gets the best of both worlds: field days and travel; and a laid-back office to work out of in Fredericton.
