2021 marked a special milestone for one of GGE's most distinguished Professors.

Dr. Langley, whose impressive career has spanned four decades at UNB, was recognized by his department with a small gathering of current and former department faculty, staff, and special guests.

Thayyil, Ian Church, Robert Kingdon, Michael Sheng, Peter Dare, and Shabnam Jabari

The event took place on Dec. 1, 2021 and was a rare reunion for many of those who helped shape GGE in previous decades. Angus Hamilton, featured in previous GGE stories, as the most senior GGE member in attendance remembered when Professor Langley first came to UNB in 1981. Three former department chairs attended the event, including Angus Hamilton, David Coleman, and past UNB President John McLaughlin.

The celebration also included well wishes and memories shared by colleagues and former students across the globe through email messages, pictures and videos, which were shared at the event.

In an era of reduced socializing, the small-scale event was a well-deserved tribute and celebration of Professor Langley, who greatly appreciated the event and the chance to reconnect with so many in person and virtually.
