“Before starting a degree in surveying, I had no interest in working or even recreation in the outdoors… I never felt encouraged to pursue a career or a sport that was typically male-dominated. Through work and recreation, I have endeavoured to change this, and I hope that I have set an example for other girls to never set limits for themselves,” says Peet.

Introducing our next Alumni Spotlight, Tracey Peet!

Peet says what brought her to GGE was that it complemented her “passion for mathematics and computer science.” Like most of our students, Peet also gained summer employment in her field of study during her time in GGE from which she graduated in 2012. Peet explains that before this, she had “no interest in working or even recreation in the outdoors.” However, Peet said this quickly changed “when I realized how hard I had to work in the summertime.” Peet became determined to “start doing more activities outside to make every-day work easier.” In doing so, she says “I even joined the Woodsmen team while at UNB!”

“I developed a love for the outdoors and now I spend all my free time hiking, skiing, biking, and snowmobiling.” Peet explains.

Peet states “Through these activities, I try and motivate other women to get out of their comfort zone and try something that they maybe thought they couldn't do.”
